GETTING STARTED: MARINADES
To make your own marinade, all you need is an acid, an oil, and any number of flavorings. The acid (which could be vinegar, wine, citrus juice, or even salsa) will soak into the top layer of the meat to help tenderize it. The oil (which could be olive, canola, vegetable, or any flavored oil) coats the meat and protects it from heat once it's on the grill. And add flavorings for well flavor of course! Try combos of herbs, spices, mustard, garlic, honey, and more. To make marinating easier, try using a purchased bottled product or a dry marinade packet (just add oil and an acid!). For a super easy method, you can purchase refrigerated meat that is already marinated. Another easy way to add exceptional flavor is by rubbing meat with a mixture of herbs and spice either purchased or homemade.
