Tango and Potato Chips

Jennifer Iserloh, The Skinny ChefI get my cravings for junk foods just like anyone else -- and I'm certainly not immune just because I write about healthy cooking. The salt cravings always hit me hard the day after I've been really active, doing a lot of yoga or in this case Argentine tango, one of the most fun and addictive past times.
So this afternoon, a wicked craving for salty crisp potato chips came over me as I clicked on my itunes tango playlist, I eyed an empty cabinet, not even a cracker in site, and I then turned to spy a lonely Yukon potato in a wicker basket on my counter top.
"Should I make my own potato chips?" I thought. Sure, why not, after all whole white potatoes really aren't bad for you when they are prepared in a wholesome way and who wants to instantly replace all those hundreds of tango calories burned with the bagged version? One 3 inch by 4 inch white potato is around 281 calories and has half your daily needs for vitamin C and potassium, a mineral that is important for hydration.
