Homemade Edible Mother's Day Gifts
Kristen Winter, AOL
The song may say that December is the most wonderful time of the year, but I say the second Sunday of May trumps it by a long shot. What could be better for a mom than a whole day devoted to her? For most of us, that's enough -- but something delicious from the kitchen thrown in the mix never hurts.

So, moms, if you want to slip the kids some ideas for edible Mother's Day gifts, here are three they can make on their own with some adult supervision (preferably not you).

Chocolate Truffle Sampler

There's no need to buy expensive designer chocolates when you can make this assortment of bittersweet truffles at home. The chocolates are as easy as it gets to make -- use a melon baller or quickly shape the chocolate between your palms, then let the kids roll it around in the coatings. Our packaging gives a nostalgic nod to the classic drugstore sampler, right down to the flavor key (handwritten in this case). Of course you can decorate the box any way you'd like.

Marbled Chocolate Bread and Herbed Cornbread in a Can
Instead of a pan, these breads are baked in repurposed cans (such as the type crushed tomatoes come in). Little bakers will love spooning batter into the can, then watching it rise above the rim. When the bread has cooled, cover the top with a circle of parchment and pretty fabric, secured with a piece of yarn or ribbon.

Maple-Pecan Granola with Dried Fruit
Choose whatever nuts and dried fruits are mom's favorites for this just-sweet-enough granola, which she'll probably eat straight from the jar. After the granola cools, pour it into a decorative jar with a tight-fitting lid and decorate with ribbons.
