Fruit Dip

Stephen DevitaThe next time your kids ask for a snack, let them help you make Gino Campagna's fun and easy fresh fruit dips. All you need is some sliced fruit, your favorite yogurt, and whatever toppings you might have in the cupboard -- anything from granola to coconut flakes to candy sprinkles will work.
To make the dips, Gino sets out one dish of vanilla yogurt. He says you can use any kind you like, of course. Then, in another dish, he makes a second yogurt sauce, adding fresh orange juice and some fresh raspberry purée. The kids all get to dip their favorite fruit (apples, bananas, and pineapple are popular choices) in the yogurt, then double-dip them in one of the toppings. Coconut flakes, chopped walnuts, colorful sprinkles -- anything your child likes is a good choice here.
Later, he uses a double boiler to melt down some chocolate, creating a second possibility for dipping. The kids are thrilled to dip their fruit into the rich, sweet sauce -- and they're still eating fresh fruit, which makes this snack a winner.
