10 Ridiculous, Over-the-Top Wedding Cakes

June wedding season is here. Soon church bells will be ringing everywhere. With all the preparation that goes into making a wedding happen, the cake is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. The moment the happy couple stuffs each other's faces with pieces of cake will be a moment to remember--and photos will ensure it. The perfect cake is important, because it shows the couple's personality.
With TV shows like Food Network Challenge and Ace of Cakes, there are bakers and cake decorators who have the ability to turn any idea (no matter how "out there") into a reality. These extreme cakes are only limited by the imagination.
We scoured the internet to find our list of the most ridiculous, over-the-top wedding cakes. Some of these are cute and some are just a little creepy. They don't all include the traditional bride and groom topper. And now it's even popular for grooms to have separate cakes from their brides.

Over-the-Top Wedding Cakes

This couple's wedding theme was the Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos). The cake was created by Calamity Cakes using a pair of our Elegant Novio Couples as the cake toppers.
A couple that hikes together stays together. This cake was created by Wicked Little Cake Company for a couple that loves to hike. The figurines are perched atop and ready to go down the river together.
This wedding cake was made by The Icing on the Cake for avid drama fans John and Jane, complete with a stage and curtains. Notice the mini Oscar statuettes next to each figure.
If this cake foreshadows anything, this couple is in for a rude awakening. This dragon cake was made by Charm City Cakes.
This groom's cake by The Uncommon Cakery is perfect for the Star Wars fan. R2-D2 is made of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and fondant details. Only the bow-tie is inedible.
These animal lovers chose a giraffe couple as their wedding cake because the giraffes symbolize strength. Except for the veil and the support system for the necks, the cake by Wicked Little Cake Company is entirely edible.
Super Mario Bros. fans, here's a cake for you. The bride surprised her gaming nerd groom with this cake from Gateaux, Inc.. It's topped with Mario and Princess Peach figurines.
