At 23, I had an epiphany...I had a horrible office job where I was on the phone all day and realized I was way too young to be so miserable. It was so depressing being cooped up at a desk in a dreary office building. It was at that point that I decided I was going to go to be a chef!
Own Your Kitchen is about building your confidence in the kitchen, making cooking approachable and fun! It’s about not being afraid.
I got a job as a prep cook and was lucky enough to be accepted to study at the Culinary Institute of America. Through a bit of luck and a lot of hard work (I worked at some amazing restaurants), I was fortunate enough to be asked to be part of Iron Chef America by Mario Batali, as his sous chef!
From Iron Chef America, I went on to host Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, Worst Cooks in America and Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell. This is truly an exciting week because I just released my second cookbook, Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Inspire & Empower.
I LOVE to teach…with my shows and my books, I try to help people take the fear factor out of cooking in the kitchen and put the fun into it!
When people are successful with my recipes, they feel good about it, empowered and the joy from cooking that I feel.
