Carla Hall

Hootie Hoo! Hi, I’m Carla Hall. Thanks for joining me this week. Some of you might know me from my daily talk show, The Chew, on ABC – or maybe as a competitor on Bravo’s Top Chef – but before I began my culinary career, I worked as an accountant. After a few years in the accounting field, I decided I was ready for a change and transitioned into modeling in Europe. It was there, in Paris, that I developed a love for food and cooking. When I returned to the States, I began a small lunch delivery business, that turned into a catering company, and well, honey – the rest is history.

By taking one ingredient and swapping it for another, you  can go from Morocco to India to the Caribbean – all without leaving the comfort of your home.

I truly believe that as a chef, energy plays a big role in the kitchen; just as important as your measuring spoons or mixing bowls. The time and love you put into a dish for yourself, your family, whomever, can be tasted in each bite making the dish just that much more delicious. The one rule I have when it comes to cooking: "IF YOU’RE NOT IN A GOOD MOOD, THE ONLY THING YOU SHOULD MAKE IS A RESERVATION.” Whether it’s when I am testing recipes for a new cookbook, dishing with my friends on The Chew or baking my petite bites of love at Carla Hall’s Petite Cookies, I always cook with love.

I've put all of my love and positive energy into my new cookbook, Carla’s Comfort Foods: Favorite Dishes from Around the World. Aside from being full of mouthwatering, easy and delicious recipes, my new cookbook takes you on a culinary trip around the world. My goal in writing this cookbook was to take readers on a tour around the world using spices – and show how we as people are actually very similar. By taking one ingredient and swapping it for another, you  can go from Morocco to India to the Caribbean – all without leaving the comfort of your home. I also made a point to make sure all of the ingredients and spices used in the cookbook can be found at your local grocery store – so without spending a lot of time and money – you can take a vacation – best of all, with me!

So grab your passport and get ready! Our journey is about to begin!
