We’ve all heard the saying, “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” In fact, that phrase has been used so much that we often associate lemons with only one thing—sugary, tart water—and nothing else.

The fact is, there is a whole beautiful world beyond lemonade when it comes to lemons.

Like other citrus fruits, such as oranges, grapefruits, clementines and limes, lemons are a good source of vitamin C, which has been shown to have powerful antioxidant properties that protect our cells from damage to keep our bodies beautiful, inside and out.

Beyond vitamin C, lemons are a rich source of other vitamins and minerals such as potassium, folate, calcium, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, riboflavin, pantothenic acid and a variety of phytochemicals.

Beyond the nutritional benefits, there are a whole host of uses as well. Here are a few “beyond the lemonade” ways that lemons can help you live a healthy and beautiful life.
