We all know chocolate fondue is decadent and romantic, making it one of the perfect Valentine's Day desserts, but you can amp up the flavor factor with a surprising ingredient. Serves: 2 - 4
Cooking time/prep time: 10 minutes
3/4 cup half and half
2 tsps red pepper flakes
1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
10 oz dark chocolate (64% cacao) chopped
In a saucepan, combine half and half with pepper flakes and ginger. Slowly bring mixture to a low boil. In a large bowl, place chopped chocolate. Once liquid reaches a low boil, using a sieve, strain out the spices and pour over chopped chocolate. Let the hot half and half stand in the chocolate for 5 minutes before stirring. Stir until all the chocolate is melted and smooth. If fondue seems too thick, add a little more liquid. Transfer to a fondue pot and keep warm. Serve with your favorite fruit, pretzels, marshmallows or bacon.
