First there was the ramen burger. But what do you order as a side dish to something so unusual? The creator of the ramen burger, Keizo Shimamoto, has your answer.

Thanks to the popularity of the ramen burger, Shimamoto has invented ramen fries to accompany his wild creation. The ramen burger became a huge hit Smorgasburg in Brooklyn, N.Y., so Shimamoto created the ideal accompaniment. “Everyone thinks our ramen buns are fried, but they’re really not, so I thought, why not try it out for the fries?” Shimamoto told The Daily News.

Shimamoto unveiled the ramen fries by posting a picture of his genius creation on to Instagram. His Instagram photo displayed his signature ramen burger next to a side of crispy ramen fries topped with a sauce and green onions. His creations are available to hungry New Yorkers at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Flea and the Berg'n beer hall and restaurant. Don't fret America. When Shimamoto first gained national acclaim for his ramen burger, he admitted that he wanted to spread his creation to the West coast as well. The ramen burger does appear at various pop-up markets in Los Angeles.

To make the ramen fries, Shimamoto chops his signature ramen bun into steak fry-sized slices. He then double fries them. Customers can enjoy their ramen fries with ketchup or mayo, but Shimamoto says he created the ramen fries to be enjoyed with a Brooklyn Brewery lager, his favorite beer. Shimamoto studied ramen noodles in Japan for four years and eventually became inspired to transform a Japanese pork sandwich into a ramen burger.
