It’s hard to believe this incredibly rich, silky pudding is so easy—and requires so few ingredients. Try it and you’ll be converted. Try to use the highest-quality chocolate possible.

Ingredients

Serves:

    • 1 pound sliken tofu, preferably Nasoya brand
    • 1 12-ounce bag chopped semisweet chocolate or 1 bag good-quality semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1/2 cup soymilk

Directions

Place chocolate in a glass bowl and microwave on high, stirring every 45 seconds, until melted, about 3 minutes total. Combine chocolate, tofu and soymilk in blender and puree until very smooth, scraping down sides of blender if necessary, about 1 minute. Distribute among six 4-oz. ramekins or small glass bowls and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.

my grandfather avoids all animal products because thats what his DOCTORS told him to do after 3 heart attacks and quadruple bypass surgery. he was never overweight and was always very active. for some reason his body just stopped working properly, particularly his cardiovascular system. the doctors have no idea why he never exhibited risk factors, it could be family history, but we dont know since he grew up in time of war and rarely did anyone go to the doctor then because in his country the doctors were preserved for injured soldiers. anyway, hes "vegan" on doctors orders. [he WISHES he could have delectable desserts that are "the real thing," but since he cant he appreciates stuff like this that tastes just as good and suits his diet.

Information Please:
Tofu is not an item I use, but as a choco-holic I'm willing to try it for the sake of a healthy diet.
Why Nasoya brand Tofu?
Does it have any particular qualities that are important for this recipe?

This all sounds so gross..... if your going to eat dessert.... eat the real thing once in a while
People get soo caught up in being a vegan, or a vegitarian... or a self righteous "I don't eat"whatever
But this kind of person always has some kind of unhealthy vice.....always

being a vegan has nothing to do with being self righeous. And Excuse me, but this is "the real thing", it's chocolate.
Just because it's not exploiting animals to do it doesn't make it any less tasty.

You should try getting "caught up" in being vegan. It's better for you, for animals and for the planet we're living on. Seriously.

I make the similar dessert but with powdered xylitol and unsweetened cocoa powder. That makes it sugar free and and naturally good for you with the xylitol. Then I sweeten plain yogurt with Sophisticated Syrup and pour it over the pudding. Check out the world's first organic xylitol syrups flavored with aromatherapies at www.sophisticatedsyrups.com
