    • This cake forms the base of our cool Christmas cakes and cupcakes.

    Ingredients

    Makes: cake or 2 batches cupcake

    Directions

    Mix sugar, eggs, shortening, and vanilla together with an electric mixer, about 2 minutes. (Mixture will appear slightly chunky.)

    Add the dry ingredients gradually to the mixture, then add milk. Blend until mixture appears smooth, like a milkshake, about 3 to 4 minutes.

    Pour batter into a greased and floured pan, or 2 cupcake pans with paper liners.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes until lightly golden brown on top (or until toothpick or knife inserted in center comes out clean). Cupcakes may take slightly less time while some cake shapes will take slightly longer.

    I agree with my504, yellow cake is my favorite but what size pan?
    I don't want to assume that because the picture shows a round cake that its a round pan and is it an 8"? 9"? can it be 13X9?
    Pan size is crucial.

    What size pan and or cup cake pans? Pan sizes should be included in all recipes!!!
