Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
Melt butter with chocolates in a heavy medium saucepan over moderately low heat, stirring, just until chocolate is melted, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and whisk in sucanat and vanilla extract. Add eggs one at a time until each is combined well. Stir in flour, coconut, pecans and salt until combined well. Spoon into prepared baking dish, smoothing top.
Bake in middle of oven until brownies are set (top will look slightly wet but will absorb as it cools) and a toothpick inserted in center is clean, about 18 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes in pan and cut into squares.

February 15 2011 at 3:53 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou have a lot of nerve calling them "Pecan Brownies Without Guilt" and then not providing nutritional information. I'll lay you odds they're loaded with fat.
February 15 2011 at 8:50 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI agree; but the fat content would be high due to butter and coconut, both of which are actually good for you in moderation. Moderation is the key here. I was kind of hoping for a brownie recipe that I could eat in excess!!! (Just kidding).
February 15 2011 at 11:10 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat's a "sucanat"? Isn't 2 oz. and 2 oz. of chocolate the same as 4 oz.? So is it a typo or a mistake? Does anyone proofread these things?
June 23 2010 at 11:03 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyit's 2 different kinds of chocolate 2 oz each
June 23 2010 at 2:49 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySucanat is sugar that is processed to retain the molasses content. You can find it a health food stores and maybe your grocery store (depending on where you live). It's generally a healthier substitute for brown sugar.
