The butter in this sauce helps it become thick and fudgy when poured over ice cream.

Directions

Heat cream and butter in a small medium saucepan until bubbling and butter is melted. Remove from heat, then briefly stir in chocolate chips and let stand to melt chocolate, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir chocolate until completely melted and sauce is smooth.

Make ahead: The sauce keeps, chilled, 1 week. Reheat gently over low heat, stirring occasionally.
