Trim green beans, then cut diagonally into 1-inch pieces. Cook beans in a 4-quart pot of boiling salted water until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes, then drain well.

Meanwhile, toast almonds in oil in a medium heavy skillet over moderate heat, stirring, until golden, about 3 minutes. Toss beans with almonds and oil, lemon zest and juice and salt and pepper to taste.

I loved the lemon on the green beans, it tasted fresh and simple. It would be a great salad for a make-ahead lunch as well.
