Why should brownies get all the attention? Anyone with a taste for blondies will love this butterscotch version, studded with crunchy pecans.

Ingredients

Makes: dozen

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Grease a 9-inch square metal baking pan.

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In 3-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove saucepan from heat; stir in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; stir until well mixed. Stir in flour mixture, pecans, and butterscotch chips just until blended.

Spread batter in pan.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from edge comes out almost clean. Do not overbake; blondie will firm as it cools. Cool in pan on wire rack. When cool, cut blondie lengthwise into 4 strips, then cut each strip crosswise into 6 pieces.
