Directions
Preheat the oven to 275°F. Sprinkle the pork shoulder all over with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Heat a heavy large wide pot over high heat until it is very hot. Add the oil and then add the pork. Cook until the pork is golden brown on the bottom about 5 minutes. Turn the pork and continue cooking until it is golden brown all over about 10 minutes. Transfer the pork to a baking sheet and pour off all but 2 tablespoons of the oil from the pot.
Add the onions carrots celery and garlic to the pot and cook until the onions are golden brown all over about 5 minutes. Return the pork to the pot. Add the wine and simmer until it is reduced by half stirring to scrape up the browned bits on the bottom of the pot about 3 minutes. Add the stock thyme orange bay leaf and peppercorns. Bring the liquids to a simmer then cover the pot and place it in the oven.
Cook in the oven until the pork is fork-tender about 2 1/2 hours. Remove the pot from the oven. Let stand uncovered at room temperature for 30 minutes to cool slightly.
Transfer the pork to a baking dish and pull the meat apart with a fork and knife. Toss the shredded pork with some of the warm barbecue sauce. Cover with foil to keep warm.
Meanwhile preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the pineapple slices until they are heated through and soften slightly about 2 minutes per side. Meanwhile grill the bread slices cut side down until lightly toasted.
Spoon the coleslaw over the bread bottoms. Top each with the shredded pork then 2 half slices of pineapple. Spoon more barbecue sauce over and cover with the bread tops. Serve warm.

Any sandwich or BBQ sandwich maker knows never put the wet cole sole on the bottom. Never ever, never! If you dont know why , than your too dumb to be asking the question.
April 27 2011 at 3:33 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI make Pulled Pork in a Crock Pot using almost the exact same ingredients, prepared the same way for (8) hours on a low setting. Exception is the last hour I remove the pork to a dish and then remove the remainder of the ingredients and discard. I use two forks to shred the pork, discarding any fat that remains. I return the pork to the Crock Pot and pour on a cup of my favorite Barbeque Sauce (I prefer Tangy) and allow it to cook a minimum of one hour. I serve the Slaw and Pork and Beans on the side along with Sliced red onions and Tomatoes and Thin sliced cucumbers, all chilled. Some people like Pulled Pork in a Mustard sauce, to each his/her own. I put only the Pulled Pork on the bun. You will be amazed at how well the spiced penetrate the pork in a Crock Pot and how tender it is when you serve and eat it. Just be sure you brown the pork well before you put it in the pot and use a small amount of liquid to de-glaze the pan and add it to the pot.

I would love to try the recipe because it looks delicious but where are the recipes for the barbeque sauce and the cole slaw? The main recipe says to "see recipe", however, it is not listed. Do the editors of this web site know how many recipes you pull up when you search for barbeque sauce or cole slaw? I'm about to give up on researching this web site for new meals. Way too many incomplete recipes!

April 27 2011 at 10:25 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou got that right and pulled pork doesnt need barbecue sauce if you make it right. He is obviously not from NC.
April 27 2011 at 2:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyrecipe makes for a very tasty pork. On the bbq sauce, I did a search and i believe found his recipe but I would very much recommend a viniger based sauce instead of a sweet traditional bbq sauce. These sauces are tangier and not sticky sweet.
December 03 2010 at 10:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFor the coleslaw I would use drained Greek style yogurt instead of the mayo.; also, if one wants to use the creme, I would recommend Mexican "Crema" that is cheaper and readily available at Kroger's.

April 27 2011 at 10:40 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRecipe calls for olive oil, not used in video. Also recipe calls for an orange quartered, doesn't tell you how to use it. How do you cut the garlic? Skin on? Very weak in details. Meat was great!!
