Ingredients

Serves:

Directions

1. Combine broth, vinegar, celery, onion, bell pepper, garlic, cumin, salt and pepper in a 6-quart slow cooker. Add beef, submerging it by tucking the vegetables under, over and between the pieces.

2. Put the lid on and cook on low until the meat is fork-tender, about 8 hours.

3. Transfer the meat to a cutting board; let stand for 10 minutes. Shred the meat with 2 forks and return it to the slow cooker. Stir in cilantro. Garnish with jalapeno and serve warm tortillas on the side.

Tip: Wrap corn tortillas in foil and bake at 300°F until steaming, about 10 minutes.

Nope, not Ropa Vieja. Cuban food is too good to mess around with. Gloria Estefan and her huband, Emilio, put out a very authentic Cuban cookbook. It has Ropa Vieja and many other great recipes.

I love Mexican food and no offense to Mexican cuisine at all but Ropa Vieja is Cuban, we do not cook with jalapenos, tortillas or sour cream. Please, when refering to ethnic food, get your information correct.

I cooked ******* pretty good. Ethnic food is always skewed when cooked in a different country....I'm Italian, I'd know what good food tastes like. Welcome to AMERICA.

I grew up in Tampa FL, right outside of Ybor City. There are some family variations on Ropa Veija, but that's not one of them. Maybe it tastes good, but give it some other name. You're doing a disservice to someone ********** wants to try it.
