Strawberry Topped Golden Cake

Preheat oven to 350°F with rack in middle.
Lightly butter a 9-inch springform pan.
Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside.
Beat butter and sugar in a mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at time, beating well after each addition. Beat in flour mixture just until combined. Spread batter in pan and bake until golden brown and center is just firm to the touch, about 45 minutes. Transfer to a rack and cool completely.
While cake cools, toss strawberries with 2 tablespoons sugar and let stand.
Beat cream with remaining tablespoon sugar till it forms soft peaks.
Top cake with cream then strawberries or serve on the side.
