Ingredients
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F with rack in middle. Butter a 9 x 2-inch round baking pan and line bottom with parchment paper. Butter paper, then flour pan, knocking out excess.
Sift together flour, baking powder and soda, and salt. Beat butter, sugar, and eggs with an electric mixer on medium speed until pale and creamy, 3 to 5 minutes.
Add flour mixture on low speed in 3 batches alternating with yogurt just until blended, scraping down side of bowl as needed.
Spread batter evenly in pan and rap pan on work surface to eliminate air bubbles.
Bake until cake is golden and tests dry when a wooden pick is inserted into center, 40 to 45 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then invert onto a rack and peel off paper. Cool completely.
Whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth and pour over cake and spread to cover top and sides. Allow glaze to set 30 minutes before cutting.

Why should one sit there and read through all the variations to find out about the baking soda?? it should be included in the first place.
April 21 2011 at 10:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySince all of the varitions to the original recipe have 1/4 tsp. baking soda included in the instructions, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that yiu need to add th 1/4 tsp. baking soda to the original recipe. If you can't figure that

June 13 2010 at 9:23 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRemind me next time to read the comments before I print a recipe. This is obviously a guy's recipe; four recipes in one and no mention of baking powder or soda, as mentioned before.

June 13 2010 at 7:48 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhen a recipe is submitted, and the person who submits it can't be bothered to take one measly extra minute to proofread it to make sure there are no errors [which this recipe is OBVIOUSLY one], it's a giant waste of everyone's time.
June 13 2010 at 7:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOops! If you read the recipe for the spice cake variation of this one, it says 1/4 tsp of baking soda. I would assume it is the same without the spice variation.
